Purse Dreams

So there is a local Salt Lake City purse shop that I ADORE.


This one time, Megan (fashionista blogger of VOX) and I were running some errands while the boys were at home playing video games.


And Megan said to me: "Let's go to Purse Dreams!"


Unwilling to return to an XBox alien battlefield, I promptly agreed.


We walk in to a very lovely shop and I was greeted by the friendly, warm, delicious smell of leather. And an adorable shop owner, who was extremely helpful and showed me around the shop.  I wasn't planning on buying anything when I walked in (Hahaha.  We all know that ends badly . . . )


 But then, I saw it:


The most ADORABLE passport cover EVER.  I've been looking for a passport cover since my China trip, and this was the perfect one.


As a side-note, I recommend a passport cover for several reasons:

1. All passports look the same on the outside.  This means that if you're travelling with someone, there is the possibility of passports accidentally getting exchanged.  Which would be BAD. It would mean you'd have to go to the US Embassy to get it replaced.
2. To protect your passport.  Because passports are made of paper, which means water, spills, rain---even humidity---can seriously damage it.
3. They're unbelievably adorable. (I got the teal one, but they had red, orange, brown, black, and probably a couple other colors I'm forgetting.)

I cannot make a post without inserting a lovely picture (just to make sure everyone is sufficiently jealous of my lovely leather passport cover) so here ya go!

And do you see that adorable sticker? As I was at the check-out, the owner let me take one! :D (Oh the simple things in life!)  It is my sticker.  I love my sticker.  My sticker lives on my binder. :D

Making Makeup Easy: 5 Tips.

1. PRACTICE: just like anything else, the more you do something, the easier it becomes.

2. BE WASTEFUL.  For years, I was so afraid to waste makeup, I never explored with it.  I was so frugal with my makeup, that it went bad before I used it all up. (The recommended life of mascara is 3 months. And the longest lasting powder eye-shadows should be thrown away after 3 years.) I wish I had started having fun sooner.

3. MAKE MISTAKES. Being afraid of making mistakes is step #1 to making them. Plan on making mistakes and starting over.  I always play makeup at night before I wash my face to go to bed.

4.  BE TERRIFYING. If you’re playing with makeup, and you suddenly make an irreparable mistake, don’t baptize your face right away.  Make yourself scary, villainous, ugly, monstrous, creepy! It’s fun! And besides, trying to be pretty all the time isn’t as fun.

5. PLAY!!! Don’t call it practicing makeup, call it playing with makeup. Because that’s what it is.  That’s what keeps it fun.

Ultimately, the only thing that makes anything easier is practice, and the only thing that makes practice meaningful is enjoying it.  That’s why these are more tips for enjoying it.  Try something crazy! Even if you don’t wear it out, that’s fine. Just send me a picture before you wash it off, Kay?

Rainbowesque Oilspill Makeup for Crosby

AS SEEN ON MAKEUPBEE'S FACEBOOK: (I'm obviously thrilled, in case you couldn't tell.)

So this one time, Crosby tagged me in a picture of makeup on Pinterest, and so I recreated the look, and wore it to church SPECIFICALLY to show her.  Only, she wasn't there, and everyone wondered why I wore such heavy makeup to church.  The End

I did brighten the colors (they got washed out by the flash,) and try to hide a certain zit in the middle of my forehead.  These photos are otherwise untouched, i.e. those are my real eyes. Without contacts.
